After months of rumors and speculation, the Kotaku I've heard from reliable sources that Rockstar Games is remastering the Grand Theft Auto trilogy (San Andreas, Vice City, and GTA III). They could be released by the end of 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series S/X, Stadia, Switch, and smartphones.

These rumors only grew as the Take-Two Interactive, used the DMCA to remove classic GTA mods from the internet. One source reports that the remastered games are currently in the final stages of development.

New engine and visuals:

The three games are being remastered using the Unreal Engine and will be a mix of “new and old graphics,” a famous technique used in Fortnite. The source claims to have seen clips of the games in action and said that the visuals resemble those of mods released by the community. The interface is also being updated, while maintaining the classic style.

New plans:

Sources have confirmed that Rockstar Dundee(formerly Ruffian Games), which is headquartered in Scotland, is leading the development of the remasters and is even assisting Rockstar in the development of the next-generation versions of GTA V, which are set to be released later this year. Initially, these remasters were to be released together and for free to players who purchased the next-generation versions of GTA V and GTA Online. However, plans have changed, and the remastered trilogy is now scheduled for release by October 2021.

It seems that the ports The PC and mobile versions may be released next year, since Rockstar is focusing on developing the console ports first. While some say there may be a longer gap between releases, it seems to me that all three games will be released as a single bundle.

Depending on the games' sales performance, a new version of the Red Dead Redemption. However, the focus on the remasters of the trilogy and port A release of GTA V for the new generations would be one of the reasons why, in fact, Red Dead Online has received fewer updates.
