A Microsoftannounced that it will close the Windows Subsystem for Android, a platform that enabled the execution of applications Androidon the Windows 11 through a collaboration with the Amazon Appstore. This service will be officially discontinued on March 5, 2025. The company did not specify the reasons for ending this partnership.

Windows 11 users who currently use these services will be able to continue using the apps and games they already have installed. These will continue to receive support from developers, including content and security updates, for another year.

It is no longer possible to search the Amazon Appstore or install new Android apps available through this program. Users who have previously downloaded these apps will still be able to reinstall and use them.
Android apps and games on Windows 11 were short-lived
Microsoft initially announced support for Android apps in 2021. The first apps didn't become available until February 2022—eight months later—and faced initial criticism due to a limited selection of apps.
Meanwhile, Google Play Games stands out as the most popular (and official Google) option for playing Android games on PCs, a service that is also available in Brazil.
