As reported by the website Neowin, the original version of Windows 11, also known as version 21H2, will reach end of support on October 10, 2023. This date is more than two years after the operating system’s initial release. The phased discontinuation of support comes as no surprise, as Microsoft had already documented that the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11 would be supported for 24 months after the initial release, while the Enterprise editions would receive 36 months of support.

Starting October 10, these versions of Windows 11 will no longer receive security updates, which will make them unsuitable for production environments and even for everyday use, as they will be more vulnerable to malware and other security threats. It is recommended that customers who wish to receive ongoing security updates upgrade to the latest version of Windows 11, which is currently version 22H2.
