Stardew Valley Update 1.6 is in the final stages of development

January 29, 2024, at 7:40 a.m.

More than a year after it was announced by Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the long-awaited Patch 1.6 from Stardew Valley It has finally reached the final stage of development. According to Barone, the focus is now on fixing bugs and making final improvements, following the completion of the addition of new content.

Recently on the X (formerly Twitter), Barone reiterated that the update ended up being more extensive than initially anticipated. Although Stardew Valley is already a complete game, the developer has a habit of updating it periodically, enriching it with new elements.

Although there is no set release date for Patch 1.6, it was revealed in October 2023 that it will include new features such as hats for cats and dogs, more than 100 new lines of dialogue, and support for up to 8 players in multiplayer on the PC.

“Patch 1.6 ended up being more extensive than planned. I’ve finished adding the main content, and now I’m focused on fixing bugs and making final adjustments until it’s ready for release. Thank you all for your patience. It’ll be exciting to see everyone playing!” said Eric Barone.

Stardew Valley Patch 1.6 promises to increase the variety of activities

Barone also pointed out on X how difficult it is to compare this update with version 1.5. While the latter introduced large new areas to explore, the upcoming update will focus on enhancing the activities already in the game.

In addition, he mentioned that players with old saves will be able to enjoy the new features, but suggested starting a new adventure for a more immersive experience. “Otherwise, you’ll unlock a lot of things right away when you load your old save,” Barone explained.

Finally, the creator of the farm and relationship simulation game announced that Patch 1.6 will initially be released only for PC, with the hope that it will arrive on mobile and console platforms soon. “That’s been a nightmare in the past,” the developer joked on social media.
