
Released in October 2023 for PC, Cities: Skylines 2 is facing challenges in the relationship between its creators and the fan community. Mariina Hallikaine, CEO of Colossal Order, highlighted a recent increase in toxicity, noting aggressive behavior toward members of the development team and other players.

She expressed concern about the long-term impact, warning that it could harm the community's atmosphere and happiness, as well as discourage creativity and mods.

Hallikaine asked fans to rein in their aggression and be more patient while the team continues to work on improvements. He warned that, otherwise, communication might be cut off and the team’s social media presence reduced.
Despite these challenges, the CEO expressed optimism about the game, revealing plans for a busy year, with a particular focus on the beta for the mod tools. However, she noted that asset importation could be compromised if certain issues persist.

Hallikaine also emphasized the studio’s commitment to improving the stability and overall performance of Cities: Skylines 2, with the console release planned for “as soon as possible.” Details about the update and release schedule will be shared soon. Finally, she encouraged constructive criticism, reminding the community of the importance of respecting the diversity of opinions among the game’s fans.
