Life By You

Paradox Interactive recently announced, on June 18, the cancellation of *Life by You*, considered one of the competitors to *The Sims*. According to CEO Mattias Lilja, the decision was made due to “Paradox’s inability to meet the expectations of both fans and the studio.”.

Life by You promised to be one of the “most complex RPGs ever written” and offered players the chance to monetize their creations. However, the project proved to be too ambitious and was ultimately abandoned before it even launched.

In a post on the Paradox Interactive Forum, Lilja expressed regret over the cancellation. The game was about to receive its first playable version via Early Access, but Paradox Interactive chose to postpone it and has now decided to cancel *Life by You* entirely.

Lilja explained that “the road to the game’s release would be too long and uncertain.” He acknowledged the frustration of players eagerly awaiting the release and of those who had invested time and enthusiasm in the project. However, the studio did not clearly detail the reasons for the cancellation, merely stating that the path to release would be unfeasible.

Life by You wasn't The Sims' only rival. Other games, such as the promising InZOI and Paralives, are still in development. InZOI, in particular, impressed with its first gameplay video and generated high expectations.
