Apple Releases iOS 15.7.5 with Important Security Fixes

Last week, the Apple made the iOS 15.7.4, with significant security fixes. Now, the company is launching the iOS 15.7.5, an additional update for devices iPhone e iPad older models, along with iPadOS 15.7.5, which addresses two vulnerabilities that may have been actively exploited.

The official iOS 15.7.5 release notes do not mention any new features, focusing exclusively on security enhancements. Apple describes the update as providing “important security fixes and is recommended for all users.”.

What this update is about:

According to Apple, iOS 15.7.5 addresses two security vulnerabilities that may have been actively exploited, namely: IOSurfaceAccelerator and WebKit. The first allows an app to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges, while the second can lead to arbitrary code execution when processing web content created with malicious code. Apple has fixed both issues with improved input validation and improved memory management, respectively.

How to install the update:

To install the update on your iPhone, simply open the Settings app, select General, and then select Software Update. The latest build is 19H332, and it is available for the following devices: iPhone 6s (all models), iPhone 7 (all models), iPhone SE (1st generation), iPad Air 2, iPad mini (4th generation), and iPod touch (7th generation).

In addition to iOS 15.7.5, Apple also released macOS Big Sur 11.7.6 (20G1231) and macOS Monterey 12.6.5 (21G531).
