Xbox Error 0x82d60002 Prevents the Use of Unofficial Accessories

October 31, 2023, at 9:48 p.m.

Starting November 12, the consoles Xboxwill no longer be compatible with unofficial accessories. Users of the Xbox One, Xbox Series S e Series X They have recently started receiving notifications about a new policy from the Microsoft.

The information was presented through the error code 0x82d60002 from Xbox. “Using unauthorized accessories compromises your gaming experience. Therefore, starting November 12, 2023, unauthorized accessories will be blocked,” Microsoft explains.

With this change, only official Microsoft accessories and peripherals bearing the “Designed for Xbox” label will be compatible with the console. Any other device outside these categories may trigger an error message.

Measures to combat piracy

One possible reason for this new policy is to curb the use of cheating devices, such as XIM, Cronus Zen, and ReaSnow S1, which are used to disguise input—for example, to make it appear as though a mouse and keyboard are a controller. In addition, the measure aims to prevent the use of adapters for controllers from other brands, such as the DualSense on the Xbox.

Unauthorized versions of accessories, such as cheaper controllers, may also become incompatible with the Xbox. It's important to note that licensed accessories, such as those from 8BitDo e PowerA, will not be affected.

The action could affect legitimate products

However, this change in Microsoft's policy could also affect legitimate accessories, such as Brook Gaming converters, which are used by the fighting game community, for example.

So far, Microsoft has not issued an official statement on the matter. Since the new policy will not take effect until November 12, the company still has time to comment on it.
