How to Install the Beta Version of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16

June 7, 2022, at 12:13 a.m.

A Apple officially announced during the WWDC 2022, the iOS and the iPadOS 16. Among the highlights of the new version of the system are a redesigned lock screen and a new multitasking feature for iPads. The public beta will be available to members of the Apple Developer Program starting in July, but you can sign up now and look forward to the new system.

Beta versions of software, including previews and seeds, refer to versions of that software that are still in development and have not been publicly released. Attempting to install beta versions without authorization violates Apple’s policy and may render your device unusable. Back up your devices first, and install them only on devices and systems that can be erased if necessary.

How to install the iOS 16 public beta on your iPhone or iPad:

  • First, sign up here at the Apple Developer Program. Registration is free.
  • After that, make sure you have a recent backup of your files.
  • Right after that, go to the Apple website directly from your device right here.
  • Log in and follow the instructions, selecting the type of system—iOS or iPadOS.
  • Next, download the configuration profile and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
  • If everything looks good, just go to Settings > General > Software Update to check if the new beta version is available.
  • Tap Download and Install.

How to install the developer beta on an iPhone or iPad:

If you're interested in installing the developer beta—which is intended only for developers and not for the general public—keep in mind that it's still a very unstable version with many bugs that can cause issues, ranging from poor battery performance to screen freezes.

  • To download the profile, just go to the website betaprofiles.com (The website is currently offline due to a lawsuit filed against them by Apple.).
  • After logging in to the website, just scroll down the page and go to the option you want: iOS for iPhone or iPadOS for iPad.
  • Shortly after that, the profile download screen will appear; then, just confirm and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • It does not require a login, nor is one recommended, since it uses a developer profile that is not intended for end users or the general public.

All right, after that, you'll be part of the beta testing group for new system versions—if your device is supported—before anyone else.
