How to Fix: X (Twitter) Keeps Crashing and Freezing

At some point, the app may close, freeze, or display an error message.

O X, former Twitter It is a network of microblogging where people share their thoughts in real time and discuss current events and trending topics in general. However, at some point, the app may close for no apparent reason or freeze and display a warning “X keeps malfunctioning”.

This problem may be widespread, especially when the device is updating or experiencing instability, and it primarily affects Samsung, Motorola, and Xiaomi devices, among others. We’ll provide some solutions you can try to resolve this issue.

Restart the device:

Twitter keeps crashing

The first thing to do is simply restart your phone to see if that fixes the problem, since the phone can stay on for a long time and then start acting up. If that doesn't work, try the next step.

Clear the X/Twitter cache:

Sometimes just clearing the cache solves the problem, since it may contain a conflicting file from a previous version that is causing the error.

  • Force the app to close, then go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps;
  • Then look for the app from X/Twitter > Storage > Clear Cache;
  • If possible, restart your cell phone.

Install a new version:

If the app is out of date, update it through the Play Store—search for X (or Twitter). If an update is available, you’ll see the “Update” option. Just update it and check if the error persists. This usually solves the problem; it may be a bug in the current version, and the company may have released a new version with the fix.

Install and revert to the previous version:

If this error occurred after an update or if there isn't a new, fixed version available to update to, download the previous, older version. This step is more complicated for those who aren't very familiar with the subject, but just take it slowly, step by step.

  • Check the settings to see which version of X/Twitter is installed at Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > Advanced and in the last option, further down, you'll find the version number, as shown in the example image below;

  • Come in at this link here on APK Mirror On your phone, look for your version—just as a reference—but don't download it; instead, download the previous version with an earlier date, as shown in the example below;

  • After downloading the app, first check to see if you still remember your password, uninstall X/Twitter, and then install the version you downloaded. If you're asked for permission to install from unknown sources, accept it;
  • Please wait for the app to install, then open it, sign in to your account, and if you did everything correctly, the problem will be resolved.

After that, wait until a new version is released so you can update, or if you don't usually do that, just keep the version you just downloaded.
