A new feature was revealed by the WABetaInfo In the latest beta version of the app, the Version 2.23.11.15, currently available on the Google Play Store. The ability to create a username has been discovered, but it is not yet available because it is still in development. Usernames will likely add another layer of privacy for users, giving them the option to share either a phone number or a username.

As shown in the screenshot of the feature, the username will be unique, which will make it easier to share or receive contact information from others. Currently, WhatsApp relies on a QR code or phone number, but if usernames are introduced, users will have a new way to share this information. Although it’s unclear, the website also speculates that users will be able to search for others using usernames.
It is important to note that this feature is not yet active or available in the beta version, and is currently under development. Therefore, we do not know exactly how it will be used. However, one thing that will remain constant is the use of end-to-end encryption in the services.
